It was minted in the United Kingdom to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II's accession to the throne. The obverse (front) features an equestrian portrait of the Queen in her uniform as Colonel-in-Chief of the Grenadier Guards. The reverse, also designed by Arnold Machin, shows a crown, the ampulla, and the anointing spoon used in the coronation ceremony, surrounded by a floral border.
